How I Feel About Illustrator

So far, I am really enjoying using Illustrator. I have never used it before and haven't had much success using other Adobe programs, so this is definitely a good change of pace. This assignment took me about 3 hours in total. The Homer was much easier than the Pikachu, in my opinion, because there weren't as many jagged lines or little intricacies. The paint bucket tool was hard to use at first as I didn’t connect my lines, so the whole picture of Homer became one color for the first 10 tries before I figured it out. I also experimented with shapes other than the ellipse on the Pikachu, like the triangle tool, and I can see how one can trace an entire shape using just shapes like you mentioned in class. I feel like I have a good grasp of this software as a whole, but there are many tools on the sidebar I’m hoping to learn how to use. I had to do the first Homer drawing a few times before I got comfortable with the way that the line tool worked. The shape tool was easy, and I started to become comfortable with overextending lines and using the shape-building tool to get rid of the overlaps to get the desired shape. I can see myself using Illustrator in the future to do all sorts of things. After I graduate, I have a job in baseball scouting and recruiting. At this job, I am also expected to create social media posts, so having experience in Illustrator will definitely help.
